| The hospital is a blessing
to the rural and under privileged populace of the North Gujarat
region. It is managed by a Public Charitable Trust, which
provides secondary health care to the community.
The hospital is located at Palanpur, on the border of North
Gujarat and Rajasthan. It is accessible to various villages
of Banaskantha and adjacent areas of Rajasthan. The Palanpur
Female – Jee Children Hospital is a boon for the women
and children and is renowned for providing quality and affordable
healthcare services to the community in general and to the
underprivileged sections of the society in particular.
The hospital, consisting of three interconnected buildings,
is spread across two acres. The hospital has a wide frontage
and foyer, with roomy wards. The corridors too are spacious
for easy movement of stretchers and wheel chairs etc. The
Female Hospital is equipped with latest medical equipments
managed by highly skilled and experienced medical professionals.
Since the inception eighty years ago, the hospital has provided
treatment to expectant mothers and ailing children at subsidized
rates. The hospital also follows a no discriminatory policy
and offers treatment to all patients irrespective of their
caste or religion.
Some eighty years ago a young woman died during delivery. This
untimely and premature death shocked the people and six leading
citizens of the city offered magnificent donations to set up
a medical facility to ensure that such tragedy wouldn’t
reoccur. Starting out as just a dispensary run by a qualified
and efficient lady doctor, it soon became a refuge for expectant
mothers and ailing children. Impressed by the noble work done
at the dispensary the local ruler, his Highness, Taley Mohammed
Khan, the Nawab of Palanpur, granted valuable land so that the
dispensary could be converted into a full fledged Hospital for
the expectant mothers and children. The building was completed
in 1926 and then used for several decades.
The hospital managed by a board of Trustees has made rapid progress.
In 1985 a new building was constructed as a part of the expansion
plan. Later on the trustees of the institution appealed for
funds to start a full-fledged children’s Hospital. The
‘Jee Parivar’ came forward with a handsome donation
in 1994 and the Jee Children Hospital was established in 1998.
Inspired by the selfless endeavour of the Trust to serve
the people, Jee Parivar offered to construct a new gynecology
hospital in place of the old one. The Trust accepted the offer
and the new Hospital building was opened up for public service
in 2004.
A qualified Gynecologist, Paediatrician and Obstetrician
have been employed to offer advice to mothers on child care
and provide treatment. In addition to mother and child care,
Shri K.D.Parikh Trust offered to establish a Female and Child
hospital for general surgeries and the construction has been
started for a new 40-bed Female and Child Hospital.
Currently treatment offered to both women and children is
subsidized. Some deprived patients are even treated free.
The hospital has also started free vaccination program of
MMR and Hepatitis-B for children.
The upkeep and management of the staff and facilities and
the expansion of infrastructure requires a huge amount of
financial support. More funds are needed to upgrade the medical
technology and make available the latest treatment to the
needy and weaker sections of the society and that is possible
only if generous donations are received for this noble cause.
